Cookies and browser storage

Understand what the site’s own code stores, what stays in the current page and what your browser may manage separately.

Effective: 2026

What cookies are

Cookies are small pieces of information that a website can ask a browser to store and return with later requests. Local storage is a separate browser facility that can retain information for a site without automatically attaching it to every request. Both can be used for necessary functions or optional purposes, depending on their implementation.

The static site code

The supplied HTML, CSS and JavaScript do not set cookies, write to local storage or use session storage. They do not include advertising or analytics technology. The mobile menu and scroll-entry effects operate in the current page without persistent storage.

These statements describe the site application code. Hosting infrastructure may process technical request information or provide security functions separately. Where any additional storage technology is introduced, its purpose and applicable consent requirements should be explained before optional use.

The local message tool

Contact fields and the prepared message are held in the page while it is open. The tool does not save them as a site preference or submit them to a server. Your browser may independently restore form fields or provide autofill according to its settings.

Copy message places text on your clipboard only when you choose that action and your browser permits it. Clipboard history or device synchronization may retain copied content. Download text creates a file in the location your browser uses for downloads. Clearing website cookies does not delete downloaded files or clipboard history.

Cache and browser history

Your browser may cache page files and images to improve loading and may record pages in browsing history. These are not the same as application cookies. Use your browser’s privacy and history settings to review or clear them. Closing a private-browsing session may remove some browser-managed information, but does not necessarily remove downloaded files.

Managing storage

Most browsers let you inspect site data, block cookies and remove stored information through privacy settings. Blocking optional cookies should not prevent access to these educational pages. Disabling JavaScript affects the mobile menu and local message tools; the written guides and direct email link remain available.

For general guidance, see the Information Commissioner’s Office explanation of cookies. Settings and behavior differ by browser and device.
